Welcome

Hello and welcome to my breast cancer journey blog!

After meeting the man of my dreams and putting on some ‘happy weight’, I decided it was time to start running again to get back into shape. I developed what I thought might be a rash (although it didn’t look like one) on my nipple, caused by my sports bra, but after a couple of months of it not healing, I went to see my doctor.

Referred to hospital with no real sign or symptoms of breast cancer, I was initially given dermatitis cream. When the cream didn’t help, I went back for a biopsy and was told I had Paget’s disease of the nipple. It was further investigated and I learned that I’d need a lumpectomy to remove my nipple and some surrounding tissue which contained pre-cancerous cells.

Further bad news followed when there was another pre-cancerous mass  (DCIS) discovered on the day of my surgery. 3 aggressive cancerous tumours were also discovered during surgery and removed. I went on to have a mastectomy and reconstruction and am currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Always positive with a touch of humour, I have blogged about my journey from the start, all the way through to recently losing my hair, My story has also been picked up in an article by The Daily Mail.
